Reed, Wicker or Rattan dog bed?
All our baskets are made of Rattan. Reed is often spoken of, but reed is an aquatic plant and not strong enough for furniture and dog beds. Rattan is a flexible material that allows our baskets to be woven in many different shapes such as oval, round and rectangular. Rattan has a warm and natural appearance, we often use Kooboo Gray Rattan in our collections. This somewhat coarser rattan species has different shades and is very strong due to its hard shell and suitable for dog baskets. Kooboo Gray Rattan gets its beautiful slightly gray color because they gray the branches into large banana leaves before weaving. This gray rattan color fits perfectly into any interior.
Is a wicker dog bed suitable for my dog?
Whether a rattan basket is suitable for your dog depends on a number of factors. If you have a puppy or if your dog likes to chew on things, it is better to go for a different type of dog bed. Does your dog like to be a bit more 'secured' in a basket? Then a wicker dog bed with a raised edge is very suitable. Or is the basket in an outdoor area or in a more humid room? Then a rattan dog bed is more suitable than a fabric dog bed. Take into account possible discolorations and a shorter lifespan.
What size Rattan dog bed do I need?
In addition to a suitable appearance in your interior, it is also important that your dog can lie comfortably in its basket. It is important that the dog can fully stretch out in the basket. You can measure the size by measuring from head to tail and add about 20 cm to this. If your dog is still a puppy, buy a basket that is large enough for him to grow out of.
